Reconditioning Manager

Reconditioning Manager – Shift Auto Group

Drive Elite-Speed Vehicle Reconditioning for Multiple Dealerships

Our Common Purpose

We create lasting relationships by providing the finest automotive experiences  anywhere.

This full time role is critical to delivering that promise by ensuring fast, high-quality, cost-effective reconditioning across all Shift Auto Group dealerships.

About the Role

Shift Auto Group is looking for a highly motivated, production-driven Reconditioning Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment, owns deadlines, manages costs with discipline, and relentlessly drives units through reconditioning at elite speed.

For clarity, reconditioning is taking thousands of pre-owned vehicles that we have acquired either through purchase or trade-in on one of our vehicles, and getting them ready to our standards as quickly and efficiently as possible. This leader must be creative, adaptable, and capable of coordinating reconditioning across multiple rooftops, ensuring every vehicle is frontline-ready on time and to our standards.

If you’re someone who pushes, pulls, and claws to keep production moving—and who knows how to manage workflow like a true operator—this role is for YOU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive lightning-fast reconditioning turnaround times, aggressively managing workflow to ensure units move through each stage without delay.

  • Own deadlines and production targets, ensuring vehicles consistently meet required timelines.

  • Manage and challenge recon costs, pushing back on quotes when needed and advocating for all Shift Auto Group dealerships as internal customers.

  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, using creative problem-solving to keep production flowing at peak speed.

  • Coordinate recon across multiple rooftops, balancing priorities and maintaining consistent performance group-wide.

  • Communicate proactively with mechanical, body/paint, detailing, and other team leads to maintain aligned, efficient execution.

Required Experience

  • Reconditioning experience OR production/operations management experience in a high-pace, deadline-driven environment.

  • Proven ability to manage workflow, meet time targets, control costs, and drive measurable improvements in production speed.

  • Strong multitasking, communication, and coordination skills across multiple functional teams.

Who Thrives in This Role?

  • Someone who operates with intensity, urgency, and commitment.

  • A creative thinker who finds ways around obstacles not excuses.

  • A production-minded leader who loves speed, structure, and continuous improvement.

  • A collaborator who keeps multiple teams aligned and moving toward a shared goal.

What We Offer

  • Strong base salary supported by a performance-driven bonus plan, offering excellent overall earning potential.

  • Comprehensive medical and health coverage to support you and your family.

  • Career growth within a fast-expanding automotive group, with opportunities to shape recon operations across multiple dealerships.

  • A high-impact leadership role where your work directly influences speed, quality, profitability, and customer experience.

  • Supportive, performance focused culture that values creativity, ownership, and operational excellence.

  • Employee purchase and service benefits, giving you preferred pricing across our dealerships
