Used Vehicle Buyer / Appraiser
Working as part of the Used Inventory Team for all of Shift Auto Group, a Used Vehicle Buyer is responsible for buying pre-owned/used vehicles for inventory and resale from several sources including auctions, online wholesale platforms, and directly from customers, as well as appraising vehicles for trade or purchase directly from customers.
This position would ideally be in Fredericton, New Brunswick, but for the right individual, it can absolutely be a remote or hybrid role.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Evaluate vehicles for purchase, using Shift Auto Groups' established criteria and guidelines. This includes reviewing condition reports, CarFax reports, and other information.
- Utilize online research tools to evaluate a vehicle's retail and wholesale value, specific to each geographical location in which Shift Auto Group operates.
- Attend digital auctions all across Canada, bidding on and buying vehicles that we have established meet our criteria and guidelines.
- Working with our in-store sales teams to evaluate customers' potential trade-in vehicles to ensure the highest possible level of success in selling and acquiring vehicles on trade.
- Valuating purchases directly from customers using our criteria, and then negotiating purchases directly with them.
- Completing all paperwork required for the purchase of vehicles from auctions, third party vendors and customers.
- Work with the Used Inventory Team Members to maximize our vehicle buying opportunities and to spot trends and opportunities in carlines as well as geographical regions.
- Work with our Vehicle Reconditioning team to ensure that any vehicles bought that do not meet our guidelines or have post-sale issues are arbitrated with the auction or platform that we purchased the vehicle from within their set timelines.
- Assist in the facilitation of payment for vehicles purchased, both from auctions and third part vendors as well as directly from customers, by working with our Accounting and Administration Team.
Requirements for this position are:
- At least 2 years of automotive experience, ideally in a used vehicle valuation role (Buyer, Used Car Manager, General Manager, Sales/Desk Manager).
- Technologically savvy, able to manage multiple screens/software at the same time as well as proficient in Google/Microsoft suite of office tools.
- Able to work flexible hours as needed (some nights and weekends possibly).
- Scheduled 40-hour work week.
